The studio is based in Spinea, on the doorstep of Venice, and was founded by Martina Peloso, architect. Professionals, architects and engineers work there, with the most up-to-date hardware and software.

Its activity is chiefly multidisciplinary design, and covers the whole arc of a work: analysis and concept, preliminary and detailed design, safety, cost appraisal, site supervision and control, through to handing over the finished work to the end user and carrying out the maintenance programme.

These are phases usually entrusted to different parties, and in the seams between one and the next time and quality are lost. Here they stay together: whoever commissions a work talks to one person, from the first sketch to handover.

01

The path

Martina Peloso worked in Barcelona with the architects Enric Miralles and Benedetta Tagliabue, and in Graz with the architect Klaus Kada. They are two different schools — the first made of ground, deformation and hand drawing; the second of constructional rigour — and both can be recognised in the way a project is set up.

She has carried out projects at both the urban and the building scale: urban renewals, regeneration of industrial and craft areas, residential complexes, detached houses, public spaces, interiors. The studio’s repertoire ranges from the implementation plan of a tourist resort to a studio flat with a mezzanine: the scale changes, the way of working does not.

02

A single point of contact

The studio draws on collaborators and specialist consultants in the various disciplines a project involves, and puts their technical knowledge to use: the client has one point of contact even in the most complex interventions.

03

The method

For fifteen years the studio has used a design philosophy of its own, the Quantum Adaptive Connection of Architecture 3.0: a way of growing the project through successive adaptations to the place, the use and the people who will live in it, instead of imposing a form decided at the outset. It is closely linked to quantum physics, and is recognised internationally and cited in many texts and articles in the field. Its trace can be recognised in all the studio’s sustainability and building projects.

The method is described at length, in the studio’s own words, in the text with which Villa Zelarino was published in the volume ArchitettItaliani: read it here.

04

The character

All the projects signed MPArchit&cts are pervaded by a great spirit of adventure, recognisable in the preliminary sketches as in the finished work. They are the expression of a continuous research, striving to push the limits of design evolution, which explores new technologies and new materials and takes up ever-stimulating challenges — the fruit of a singular vision of architecture.

A continuous research, striving to push the limits of design evolution.
